Quick Odds Calculation
Rule of 2 and 4
- After flop: Multiply outs by 4 for turn+river odds
- After turn: Multiply outs by 2 for river odds
- Example: 9 outs on flop = ~36% to hit by river
Pot Odds Formula
Pot Odds = Call Amount / (Pot + Call Amount)
If your equity % > pot odds %, call is profitable

Early Position (UTG, UTG+1)
Play Tight
- Premium hands only (AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK)
- Raise 3-4x big blind
- Fold marginal hands
- Be prepared to fold to 3-bets with JJ or worse
Middle Position (MP, HJ)
Play Selectively
- Add TT, AQ, AJs, KQs to your range
- Consider position relative to aggressive players
- Raise 3x big blind
- Start considering pot odds for calls
Late Position (CO, BTN)
Play Aggressively
- Widen range significantly (99+, AJ+, KQ, suited connectors)
- Steal blinds with a wide range
- Raise 2.5-3x big blind
- Re-steal against late position raisers
- Button is the most profitable position
Blinds (SB, BB)
Play Defensively
- Defend BB with wider range when facing small raises
- SB should play tighter than BB (awkward position post-flop)
- Consider squeeze plays with premium hands
- Don't defend too much with weak holdings
